Experience with Seventh Circle?

I was wondering if anyone had any input on Seventh Circle gear. It looks like it could be one of the best ways of getting a really nice sounding preamp very cheaply...

I'm looking for a very clean (uncolored if you will) preamp for classical female vocals for less than $450 and I have been told that the grace 101 would probably do it, but what about this seventh circle stuff? Anyone had any experience with it?

Good stuff. Don't be afraid to buy from them. You might want to look at the T15 or C84 for a "clean" preamp.

Yes...

I use two N-72 preamps. They are, to put it simply, the bomb. Tons of gain with exceptional headroom. Very Neve'ish (the N-72 modules) as well with an exceptional full sound that responds very well to being overdriven.

Highly recommended pres (IMO)....I am exceptionally happy with them.

just finished my first N-72 this weekend, haven't had the chance to try it out yet. I just started putting the resisters in the second one. I think I am more excited about these than I was about my new car.

Thats how I was waiting for the group buy gear. Can anyone comment on how the ACMP 73 sounds compared to the N72?

Vice - when you finish, please post what your thoughts are about the pre!

A/B'ing them for a bit was that they sounded very similar with EQ disengaged on the 73. This is probably as it should be given their design goal. I thought (based on Reaper's meters and subjective listening to the same source on both) the N-72, however, had more gain available as well as a lower noise floor.

Wow, i just put over a G into the case and two n-72 kits. Less than half the cost of that gets you two pre assembled with barely perceptible differences. I kinda feel like a sucker. but I am genuinely enjoying my soldering time.

regret the G in the two N-72 kits....they are awesome preamps and a proven design (with backup support should something go wrong). If I had it to do over again, I probably would have just gotten two more SCA kits...the API versions vice the 4 ACMP's that I purchased. After fixing/modding, the ACMP's will probably be fantastic, but the SCA kits are rock solid.

Just my .02,
Jay

I wish Seventh Circle would make their kits available in a lunch box format...

I'm planning to do whatever Dgatwood and the other electrical wizards figure out about fixing the 81's oscillation and the 73's hum (details in the group buy thread in "microphones"). I will most likely order Brad McGowan's shielding fix for the 73 as well to better shield seperate components inside the case.
