Can I plug straight in my Alesis I/O 2?
Hello All,
Total newbie to home recording. Bought an Alesis I/O 2 interface. I have tried plugging my guitar straight into it but I see in Cubase that the signal is weak. I presume then, that I always need to use a pre-amp to go through before the interface, right? Thanks in advance for any replies. Best Matt |

When you say weak, what do you mean? Is it peaking between -16db and -24 db? If so, you're fine. And unless I'm very much mistaken, your interface will have built-in pre-amps.
