Hi All: I have a UAD-1 card and am doing a 14 day trial with thier mastering software components. I record with samplitude and it has a mastering bundle that I have been using that exclusively for 4 years. My question is this. How does the UA precision line stuff rate compared to what else is out there? I have been living in a bubble of only what I have, so any suggestions to other mastering softwares that are at least as good as what I am using/demo'ing would sure be appreciated. Also if they offer free trials even better. Thanks! Walter

I think the UAD Precision stuff is fantastic. I have all of the plugs but if I had to live without two of them it would be the maximizer and the enhancer.

There's nothing out there that comes close to them and forget the new t-racks and ozone stuff. For me UAD has been the best value for money that's been spent in my studio.

Thanks for the reply Lemontree. I am self taught on all this recording stuff and am sampling the precision multiband, precision limiter, and precision compressor. I record everything live, one take, to 4 tracks. There is no compression on any of the tracks(just the neve 1081 UA eq) and I have been using a limiter and multiband with the samplitude. I am aiming for an open, live sound, not an- as loud as I can get it -that seems to be the norm today. I was raised in the days of tape(pre computer) and the learning curve and cost to have a decent studio then was beyond my means. So, I am just plodding ahead here. I offer this info in case it might help point me in the right directions. Was that a typo, or should I give the maximizer and enhancer a trial. Walter

Disclaimer: I don't use plugs often.

That said -- Since Samp 10, there's little use for additional plugs. Not that the UAD stuff isn't wonderful and all, but the V10 stuff is serious horsepower also.

thanks for the reply! I use samplitude classic V8. I am not sure how far behind V10 that is. If I want to update, I can, but I have to say the Neve 1081 eq is far beyond my samplitude eq's and the same for the UA plate reverbs. Walter

Seriously - Toss around grabbing V10. The new AM-Suite is mind-blowing, the new verb is insane, the EQ, resampling... They took the ultimate and made it even more ultimatey.

Now with 20% more ultimate.
