What are the ways to record a cd

I am not a professional but a music hobbyist and have been using my computer to burn my guitar music on cds. It seems you are wearing many hats...,learning to play and learning about how to record. But for those who are in the know more than I am on cd burning what are the other types of medium used to burn cds? I have seen the tascams recorders and other brand name digital recorders that have a built in cd burners, it seems that they are easier to use with the burner built in. What about the stand alone recorders? Thank you.

is there somthing wrong with the way your computer is burning the disks?
if there is, there is a way to slow the speed down for a more accurate copy.

I do some recording and burn CDs using my computer also. My understanding is that computers and stand-alone digital workstations work about the same way. A combination of hardware and software is utilized to produce the final product/CD. At one the time the argument could be made that stand-alone workstations were more stable but the personal computer has come a long way. Computers have the advantage of a bigger screen to do editing (less flipping through menu screens). I'm sure there are other pros/cons (stand-alone recorders are more mobile, personal computers have the flexibility to use various kinds of software). Whatever setup one has, the key to good recordings is learning how to use your equipment well (we are usually more limited by our ability than by the equipment we are using).

Dont get confused by the boxes.

A stand-alone recorder is actually a single-purpose computer with a cd burner.

Your PC is a multi-purpose computer with a cd burner.

Not really much difference there.... except the stand-alones are built to do ONE thing and can't be upgraded to do any more than they were designed for.
