About nearfield monitors
I am kind of new to recording and finally broke down and bought an 8 track digital tascam recorder and have been using my regular stereo speakers as monitors to play my guitar through and listen back on for a long time. After learning a little about nearfield monitors from this website and other reading materials, I haved saved and purchased some KRK Rokit 5's, to replace my stereo speakers and they sound great. When I play my guitar through the recorder and listen on the new monitors is there a chance that I can damage these speakers? I would hate to loose that investment! Thank you.

There's just as much chance of damaging your new speakers as there was of your old.
So long as you don't blast the crap out of them you'll be okay |

Don't do what I did and lend them to your brother for a party. I plugged my M-Audio BX5's in for him, cranked every stage of gain I could and blew the shit out of the tweaters.
