Just bought Altec Lansing 1689A preamp/mixer!
Seems to work, but using close drum mics as the input it is distorting. Also the internal switches are confusing, my kick drum mic has no low end, but the low cut filter doesn't seem to be engaged. Also the controls on the front are for MIXING not gain or the preamp, that has to be set INTERNALLY, which is a pain in the ass....maybe when I rack mount it, I'll leave the top off.
Anyway, anyone use one of these, is it worth trying to use for recording? I got it cause it looked cool and was cheap, so eh why not right? |
