Question Talkbox

Will this work with either Motif Classic or ES?

Appears as if it could be used from www.rocktron.com description of it. Below is an except of their FAQ from their site. I didn't realize the sound actually came up the tube to the mic.

Will sound come out of my amplifier when I use the Banshee Talkbox?

This is the most frequently asked question about the Banshee. The fact is that no sound comes out of your amp while the talkbox effect is engaged. When engaging the Banshee, all of the sound comes up through the talkbox “tubing” and then into your mouth, and finally back out of your mouth and into a microphone. Thus, using a talkbox is much the same as micing a singer. No sound comes out of your amp at all. (Note - this is NOT the case with the Banshee 2 model. See details on the Banshee 2 elsewhere on this website.)

How do I make my instrument talk when using the Banshee Talkbox?

Many inexperienced users believe they are talking into the tubing to change the sound. This is not the case. The sound comes out of the tube and you use your cheeks, lips, tongue and teeth to change the envelope of the incoming signal to “shape” the sound as if your instrument is talking.

Can the Banshee Talkbox be used only with guitar?

Any low level signal can be used into the Banshee, including bass guitar and keyboards. Many DJ's also use the Banshee to “scratch” LP's into the Banshee to create unique sounds.

Hi bsr,

Yup, this should work fine with any synth. This one has a built in amp, which is even more helpful. I've never used this particular model so can't comment on its quality or sound, but you should be fine using this with your Motif.

Best of luck!

It'l work with anything with output!

But if i were you I would NOT buy the banshee, make one yourself for half the price! There are tons of tutorials on how to make one, and they sound MUCH better than the banshee!

I agree. Parts express has some decent horn drivers for around $30. A friend of mine had a banshee (the one with the built in amp) - it sounded terrible.

I think it sounds fine for what I use it for, which is guitar, but it seems impossible to get anything but a distorted signal from it, which could be less useful for keyboards. I think the Banshee is really designed for guitars.

This doesn't sound bad though...

Right, but doesn't he use a custom box? I know he's got another video where he shows how to make one, but I think I've also seen him with a Banshee, so I dunno...

Heh, that's where I learned how to use my box... I still suck, though.
