I just picked up a Midistudio 644 this weekend that was on consignment at a local music store.
No manual came with it, and this is my first foray into 4 track machines. There's so many bells and whistles on this thing, that I can't figure out how to play back what I (supposedly) put on tape. I pulled a line from the monitor outs on the back of the deck, and ran it into my receiver, but I don't hear anything when I play the tape back. I see level on both input and output modes on the display, but no matter what I do, I can't get any sound to play back. Can someone PLEASE give me some idea how to do this so I can determine if the unit is defective before they call the guy and tell him his unit sold? Thanks! Crusty |

It’s been a while cince I have used my 644. If I remember correctly there are what’s called scenes. These scenes tell you what mode the 4 track is in. Certain modes allow you to record from different inputs to certain tracks. Each sciene has a different configuration. I believe on the factory presets, scene 11 allows you to record from any input from the board, to any of the 4 tracks. Then scene 12 is for play back. It allows the 4 tracks to be played back thew the first 4 channels of the mixing board. Make sure you are on cine 11 when you are playing back.
