What EXACTLY will change?
And spare me the managerial mumbo jumbo, I've a degree in it!
 None of this 'stream-lining', 'outsourcing', 'back-office' crap. In plain terms, can you guys please explain what will change? Because by Dragon's own admission, his announcement doesn't reflect the facts of the situation. Can we please keep this thread constructive too everyone? Thanks.

Whatever happens unless it is done such that it is supported by the existing active membership it will result in them stopping taking part here. That is the reality. The reality also as far as I'm concerned is that if it was my decision the first thing I would do is consult with them!
This obviously hasn't happened so we shall just have to sit on our hands until the proposed changes take place and make a judgment on whether they are of benefit to us as individuals or to the community as a whole. I just hope Dragon manages to implement the changes he views as important while maintaining the ethos and feel of site while maximising his return on it because that as I see it is the real agenda here.

Philippe contacted me back in April or so, out of the blue, telling me that he had a similar site to HomeRec in France and that maybe we could work together for mutual benefit. Well, maybe from an American that would mean "I'm going to kick your ass, Scooter" and I don't know if this is a French thing but Philippe has been completely straightforward and honest with me through all the months in between. I realized quite awhile ago that HomeRec really needed more than just me, and several people have offered various services over the years, but I was never able to figure out how to work with them. But Philippe has a whole team of people who can do things, and I guess for me it's easier to work that way. I want HomeRec to not just exist, but grow and be more of a success, and I have every confidence that Philippe and his crew at Audiofanzine can help us do that. He only started a few years ago, with far less Internet knowledge than I have, yet his site is a tremendous resource and pwns the French-speaking music world. So please give it time, and let them give me some mental and emotional space. Thanks. |
