midi recording

im currently using a tascam 2488 portastudio to record, ive only ever used computer based programs to record before, and im not sure how to record midi instruments.

does anyone know how to connect an mpc, or synthesizer to the portastudio? i cant hear any sound.

Just connect the outputs to inputs just like any other device. They should all be line level so if there is a switch for that, use it

The 2488 has a built-in standard MIDI player and General MIDI sound module so you should be able to find that info in the manual on how to hook up and use your midi instruments.
