when using reason drumkits

I create a combinator and select a kit then I solo the kick fader, for example, and print an audio track from my instrument track in protools.

sometimes this isn't loud enough so I boost the kick fader and also the master fader in Reason, but I'm wondering if you go over 100 on the fader does that create any problems?

Yes --- the Reason mixer distorts like any other mixer when pushed into the red.

I've found it necessary to first finish the part in Reason and second use the 'export loop' function to make a .wav file. Then I take it into a stereo editor (Sound Forge, Wavelab, GoldWave, even Audacity} and bump up or 'normalize' the level.

Then I save it, or in the case of Audacity 'export' it, and name something that makes it clear to me that it's been thru this process.

Everything that comes out of Reason is lower level than other software expects to see, and I'm sure if I brought this up with the Prop dev team they would have a good explanation. But if you want to use your Reason material in other applications, the above process is necessary.

what if I don't set off the clip indicator (no red boxes) but I am running at 110 for the master fader and also the instrument fader?

If the level you get straight from Reason satisfies your needs and fulfills you requirements, then no further processing is necessary.

In the words of Joe Meek, if it sounds good it is good.
