Hey everyone!!
Advice please!!!I have a Yamaha AW16G 8-input 16 track recorder (8 single, 4 paired). Got 7 mics right now D6, D1 x2, sm57, C-1000 x 2, ATM 63 I would like to know recommended equipment to add-on to my recording rig to get the better sounds & singles from everything. (tube pre-amp, mixer, EQ?, compressors etc.) I'm thinking I mainly would like a tube-pre amp (do you think the ART or pre-sonus pre's are good to add-on with?) & I'd like to get a nice compatible mixer with like 8 inputs on it so I can record about 14 mics at once (for the drums). Additionally, is it best to mixdown all your drum tracks with everything eles OR to bus all the drum tracks to a stereo pair then mix them down later w/all other tracks. I seem to be having troble getting that technique. How do you pan the drum tracks before & after busing them? etc. Please give me some cool details eveybody! THanks so much!! ![]() |

There are some ART DUAL MP preamps on ebay right now. I have one and used it with my AW16g. They're two channels each. If you got three of them, you could use 8 mics simultaneously with the yamaha. sweet.
bouncing down drums to a stereo track before mixdown is only necessary if you really need extra tracks for other things.
