Tascam US-2400

I know this has been discontinued for some time now, but is there anything that compares to it for price, looks and amount of faders? I could get 3 behringer bfc2000s but i'd prefer somehing all in one. Any ideas?

The new one is the Tascam FW-1884. Less faders, but you can add FFE-8 fader bank expanders until you have enough for your purpose.

Difference with the new units is that they're also the audio/midi interface; not just a control surface. I have the smaller one, the FW-1082, and love it.

If you still want a 2400, there's one on eBay right now for less than a grand: eBay: Tascam US2400

I've got a Tasmcam fw1804. I just need a cotrol surface. Thanks for the suggestion though. I've seen the Tascam US-2400 reasonably priced, but im skint so was looking for something around £300-500. Even jst 16 channel. I found the Behringer DDX3216 again (i used to want that) and I could use 8 of the channels ADAT into the Tascam. I was gonna buy the ADA8000 anyway. I might go for that when i have the money. I could also use it for live sound, with all the inbuilt fx etc.

Do you think this is a good idea? It is behri...

I'll look for a Yamaha or Tascam 2nd hand.

That's tough. It seems like most of the affordable control surfaces I've seen nowadays are the combo-models that integrate the audio interface. I just haven't seen something that is a true replacement for the 2400 - just a dedicated control surface.

Maybe something like the 1082 would be a good alternative. I have no trouble mixing 24 tracks with it... it has a bank selector that lets you switch from tracks 1-8 to 9-16 and so on. I don't know that I can be an advocate for the Behringer; I've just had mixed experiences with their stuff and tend to avoid it nowadays. Funny, as I still have a VX-2696 that I've used for years without problems, but all the other Behri stuff has come and gone from my setup.

How do you like your 1804? I've been looking at one of those to expand my I/O for my Logic setup...

I like my 1804. I've not had extensive use of it though, but it seems to do everything i want it to with no problems. It was the best suited interface for me, especially for the price.

I've been using my DDX3216 for about 2 years now.... I love it! I haven't had any problems with it yet.... except a fluttering light on the display recently. I hate to think of the day ot will die.... it sounds so good and does so much that I won't be able to replace it with twice the money....

Peace!

That's great. Glad it's worked well for you.

To everyone: Are there (m)any other digital mixers like the DDX3216, Yamaha O1V? Are there any cheap ones out there that aren't discontinued? The cheapest I can really find is the Yamaha 01V96 and that's way too expensive.

Ok I've found:
Behringer DDX3216
Soundcraft Spirit 328
Tascam DM-24
Yamaha 01V
Yamaha 01v96
Yamaha 02r(a little too big for me)

Are these all pretty similar mixers? Do they all have flying faders and ADATs(even optional)? Ohh, I would like to use the mixer for both studio recording and live sound.
