The drum brain has a midi output that you would plug into the midi input of what ever sound module you wanted to trigger the sounds from.

Midi. You will need a midi interface. You will also need software to record the midi and some sort of synth (software or hardware) to play the sounds.

I haven't spent much time on it, but when I experimented with it, I found that the V-Drum doesn't necessarily transmit what it sounds through its audio output. I'm specifically referring to the hi-hat - there's a certain 'intelligence' or sensitivity that it applies to the pedal position that's not reflected in the MIDI output.

I tried recording MIDI from the V-Drums and what I recorded was a hi-hat either open or closed (instantly choked), whereas what I was playing had varying degrees of openness on the hi-hat. The audio from the drums reflected what I was doing, but the midi when played back through my JV-1080 or the V-Drums themselves didn't sound right.

There may be ways or dealing with this or compensating, but I didn't look that far into it.

Correct. You can simply connect the midi jacks on your V-Drums to the midi jacks on your UA25, which then goes to the computer via usb.

I've run into the same hi-hat issues that were previously mentioned by Whale Bone. It seems that the output for the hh control is limited to open & closed, instead of the multi-stepped control that the V-Drums are actually capable of. If anyone knows of a workaround to get the V-Drums transmitting more finite hh control, I'd love to know how to make that work.

There is no point to getting the midi to usb cable if you already have the au25

There has to be some sort of device that converts midi to usb. It exists, but you already have the ederol.
