Tascan DX 4-D Question

Greetings out there in recording-land! I have what may seem like a neophyte question to most of you, but its a legitimate one for a newbie such as myself. I have a ReVox A77 MK II that I really love, and I recently acquired a Tascam DX 4-D DBX Type I Noise Reduction unit that a guy gave me. Is there any way that I can use this with my ReVox? The ReVox obviously does not have the control signal input/output fitting as a Tascam recorder would have, but is there anyway to bypass this or rig it so that I can get the noise reduction capability of the DX 4-D unit without utilizing the control circuit?

Thanks all, I look forward to being a part of the forum!

You need to locate the control transistor(s) for each channel and short one of the outside legs to the center leg. Then encode and decode circuits remain on. Sorry, I can't tell you where they are on the board. I haven't been inside one of these for close to 20 years.

Thanks a Bunch!

Hey RRuskin, thank you so much for your reply. That makes perfect sense to me. I ordered a schematic that should be here in a day or two, and I'll give your suggestion a try!

Thanks again for the help!

Tascam DX-4D Schematic

Hey RRuskin. Here's a copy of the Control Assembly section of the Tascam DX-4D. Is that Control Transistor you were mentioning in your previous reply in this schematic?

Thanks again for your help!

I honestly can't tell you. I just know that they are in the cicuit somewhere. Try following the path from the control plug to the 1st transistor you hit. Then short out with a clip lead. If all the status lights come on for that channel - you've found it

Thanks for the info RevoStuder!

Can you post the whole schematic for the DX-4? I want to buy one that I found that may or may not be working and would like to have the schmatic before I buy it.

Thanks
Alex
