TSR8 repair

I just bought a tsr8 for what i think to be a fair price....$245.
The only issues with the machine that I've detected as problematic are:

1) split rubber on the counter wheel.
2) plastic hubs, especially one of them will need to be replaced.

My question before I bring it to the tech is:

Are broken / dysfunctional hubs fairly common? Is this a potential sign of deeper
problems?

thanks.
