Yamaha GC202b II comp/limiter?

Hi,

I've just been given one of these and know nothing about it. Did a quick google search and couldn't find anything.

What's this unit like? Any good?

I would except I've never used a hardware compressor or limiter and have nothing to compare it to!

I'm wondering if anyone on here has used one or knows how they compare to current comps like the FMR RNC?

My recollection was it grabbed hard even at low ratio.
The release on the gate was slow and weired. Closed a little, waits, closed the rest of the way. Has all the features' but...
Geeze, I think I paid full price for the thing back when..
It's not even an RNC BTW. (Mine wasn't a #II -maybe they did better.

Vocals and such -slow things, try 2/1, slow attack fast release.

Thanks for the replies.
I don't normally compress things on the way in anyway but if this thing was any good it would have been worth keeping hold of.
As it is, I might end up selling it on?
