Record vocals while listening to instrumentals (Cubase)

As the title says, I am trying to record vocals while listening to the instrumentals in Cubase SX3. Whenever I start recording, Cubase records the instrumentals onto the vocal track. How can I accomplish this?

Thanks.

Exclamation

Why don't you export the instrumentals into your recording software and record that way?

Where are the "instrumentals" you're listening to? Are they other tracks in the same Cubase project?

They are on other audio tracks in the same project as I'm trying to record in.

I dont know Cubase but it sound like one of a few things, are you recording with headphones on? If not you'll be getting bleed into the mic, actually other than that im not sure, what "input" do you have selected on your vocals channel?

i suspect that you have a soundcard designed for gaming not an audio interface... and there's a tab marked something to the effect "record what you hear"...

The input is "ASIO Multimedia Driver Stereo In"

Where would I find such a tab? In my control panel or within Cubase?

Check in the windows mixer and in advanced settings on your sound card.
