Single Tom. Too much strain on bass drum?
Hello,
I have a sonar kit that has the double tom mounting hardware on the bass drum. It has been mostly recently been being played with only one mounted tom. We took the other one off. Does anyone know if this uneven loading will cause some stress to the tom mount and/or bass drum? Or am I worrying about it too much? The tom is sticking out to the left about 6-8 inches from the mount. Your input is greatly appreciated. Thank you! Josh |

I don't think it will be a problem. It's done all the time and Sonor makes really good strong drums.

Isn't that what bass drum spurs are for?
I've always have single toms mounted on my bass drums, never had any issues myself.

While I respect you thinking about potential damage - I really don't think this is a significant concern. Single toms are mounted on kick drums all the time.
