Was referred here from Tascam Forums

I have a problem with a M600 Tascam Mixer. If anyone with tech knowledge can help I would be grateful.
The following is my last TASCAM forum post.

Progress.. new filter caps and fuse, back tracking... however still having issues. Line inputs and tape return volume is still an issue, at least 10 to 16db difference( less) than program outputs, making monitoring very poor. The XLR ins, program outs and aux's have no input or output problems. PFL volume and solo volume seem okay. The desk used to have vca automation ( JL Cooper Magi II ), the prior owner (church) removed the automation upon buying, but never used the console and it sat unused for years. I have noticed some mods on the studio pcb board. Someone has installed a 1/4 female jack cabled to the studio pcb board with a small blue retangular box as a junction of sorts. Could it be the uinstall was not complete? The line in and out volume problem is on all channel strips as well as tape returns, to monitor tracking, the big faders have to be pushed up past unity and get very phasey sounding and noisy up that high.

I will provide picture of the mod if anyone thinks it would help, as well as schem. for the master, studio out and input pcb boards.
I have limited resources, the only local repair facility said I could bring it in, after just getting done installing it, would be a bummer.
.
Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

This is going to be like when you call customer support and they keep transferring you to different people.

There aren't lots of people here with good electronics knowledge, I recommend Group DIY (Prodigy-Pro), it's a dedicated audio elctronics forum.

I know people have had problems signing up over there so if you want me to post on your behalf send me a PM (here obviously).

welcome to the bbs... i used to spend alotta time at the tascam site but boy did it go down hill... there's a diy forum that's been started here... so suggest you start another post over there... from what i can gather so far this mightbe problematic... it's hard to tell sometimes what the guy intended with a mod if it's not been documented...

Thanks all

Problem fixed.

If you run across an old console with JL cooper Magi 2 automation that has been removed, the fader harness has to be rewired or it will not function quite properly.

So all is good !

Best Wishes

Mike
