TS9 or TS9DX

Think I'm gonna buy me one of these, but which one....

Is it worth stepping up to the Turbo model?

Hi,
when your talking TS, are you talking about the original (and quite expensive now) TS9 Tube Screamer by Ibanez?...could be hard to find a genuine one from 1981....(my first guitar pedal ever, in 1981! wish I kept mine.)

The 're-issue' is around, I've played it, and it's still a nice device, if light/medium rock and blues is your thing???

The 'Turbo' Model gives you a little more tone boost, so seems to cut a little harder, depending where set.....both very fine pedals, for the person looking for that 'cutting-thru' sound without losing 'note clarity'.

Have you tried the Boss 'Blues Driver"....it's been around for a while now, and I think that is a very 'under-rated' little pedal, give that a try too.

Yeah, reissue. For rock and blues mostly into a tube amp. Mostly wondering if the Turbo is capable of the basic TS9 sounds, but with some added adjustability.

I just bought my TS9 (not DX) a few days ago and is still very satisfied with it. It's a lot better than my MT-2. I'm just trying to save up for an amp to go along with it. It's got a very bluesy and rock sound. You will not regret it.

Hi Arc,
yeah, I hear what you're sayin.
I guessed that you're a bluesy type player, so I'll go further and guess that the extra controls of the Turbo model will simply get in your way....go for the standard TS-9, or/and also do have a good look at the Boss Blues Driver....you'll be very surprised!

I know people rave about these but I bought a new TS9 and I think it's average at best. Shop around and look at some options. They are plenty out there.
Mike.

Woah!...It's rare to hear peeps who don't actually like the this thing, when using it for it's allocated purpose.

But then again, I've only ever used the original TS-9 version, and only heard the later Turbo version.
