Exclamation M audio firewire Solo and Pro tools

I've just gotten my Pro tools setup, and being completely new to it, and all PC music production, I'm oblivious on how to setup a interface for it. I have the M-Audio Firewire solo interface, installed and working...but I can't figure out how to get recording with it.

I plug in an electric guitar directly into the inputs, front/back doesn't matter, and I can't get anything to record...or even be heard I'm pretty sure.

Any help with this, my dad's threatening to take the laptop away if I don't get it done tonight :/

On your mix window, make sure that you've got both an input and an output selected for the track. Then, record-arm the track by press on the "R" that's on the track in question. If you want to play along with the music, but without actually recording it, then you'll need to put the track in to input-only monitoring (found under the "Track" menu).
