424 MKII cassette door.?
Hello,
I just got a tascam 424 MKII and am really excited to get back into recording with a cassette four track. The door on it seems loose on one side when you depress it down for the tape to pop up. It only comes up on one side and you have to use your fingers to pull open the other side. I remember having this problem on another 4track that i had. Is there anyway to fix it or is it just something you have to deal with? Any tips appreciated, Brian

I'm fairly certain the door on the mkii is completely unnecesarry. Tapes are inserted and removed by hand, not by a door-action, right? I'd just remove it altogether, or leave it open all the time. Most of the time, I just let the tape roll with the door wide open. I don't leave tapes in there like that for weeks on end or anything, but even with the door shut, I wouldn't do that. That's why tapes come with cases. When you're done for the day, take the tape out and return it to the case.
