Vocal Booth Help...

Hi everyone:

While I've visited this forum many times for advice, and found it extremely helpful, this is my first time posting. I'm hoping someone can provide me with some guidance...

I'm in the process of building a stand alone vocal booth on a moderate budget. I've built a 6' x 4' booth. All the walls and ceiling have been built the same way, with an exterior wall of 1/2" MDF. The wall studs are a combination of 2x2's and 2x4's (on their side) so I have a 1 1/2" gap before my interior wall, which will be another 1/2" MDF. To finish off the interior, the walls will be covered with 1 1/2" acoustic wedge foam.

All the studs and seams of course will be siliconed to be air tight. I'm wondering though if I should be putting some form of insulation between the studs (and therefore between the 2 MDF panels). I've read in some post about the Mass-Air-Mass principle... but I wasn't sure if I should leave it as actual "air" (nothing) or if there should be something inside there for extra sound dampening. Any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Are you sure you need a booth? See this for some advice:

Do I really need a vocal booth?

This is of course not portable at all right? I hope your owning and not renting. If you did not build this design there are plans you can buy to give you a massive head start. Building studio's can be a a waste of time and money if it is not done correctly. You may not even need a booth at all. My issue was bleed from drums , bass and guitar so I needed a booth to isolate vocals. The plans I bought from DawBox worked well.
