There are no factory effects built in to the 1680. You must buy the effect boards and install them.

Cool

The optional effects boards are about $275 each. You can use one or two at a time. The effects can be used as inserts or aux sends and can be used as stereo or mono. They have all kinds of defferent effects including amp modeling, mic modeling, compressors, reverbs, delays and a lot more.I am still learning about mine and having a great time doing it.

Not too sure about reverb/EQ/delay existing on your system, but I would definitely recommend the effects boards. TONS of (relatively) ultra high quality effects. Unfortunately, the user interface is lacking.

Reminds me of a guy I met who said the VS-XXX sucks because it is too hard to use. The guy had one and returned/sold it because it was too difficult for him to use. All of the on-board options confused him. He now has a simpler HD recorder and uses outboard effects.

dalty...is that a newer model or something? I know the VS-1680 I have on loan does not have factory effects.

BBB- I have had my share of learning curve on mine, not sure if I'd own one yet. There is something to be said for going outboard.
