This might suck...

I have no idea. It's too different in style for me to judge weather I pull it off. I think I need a soul-type singer for the verses of this song.

I took the chord progression from one of my older tunes, and the lyrics to another of my older tunes and put them together, so it still sounds strange to me.

I'm also not sure about the drum sound. I wanted a smaller sound, but the snare might be too thin or distant.

Help me with this one!

Thanx.

THE REAL YOU

I think it sounds good. I'm no drum expert, but the snare fits good during the chorus and bridge. Might be a bit strong in the intro, 1st and 2nd verse. Sometimes the vocals get buried in the chorus.

Great arrangement. I like all the change-ups.

Cheers,

That guitar choke at "cut through all the real lies" before the first chorus is a bit jarring on first listen. I agree a deeper snare sound would've worked better, but the song itself is great. Nice vocal harmonies.

RAMI,
this demonstrates your chops as engineer & producer really well. Thinking outside the square to produce a little radio friendly gem & that's not a face slap - Stax & Motown were ultra radio & cool.
I like the drums and snare - more crack on the snare would make it sound too much 80's plastic soul.
The guitar solo's 1st three sections are great and in character - I don't know about the 4th; it may have been a bar too far or just too big a change.
The chords are cool and your vocal structure is great.

Good one Rami... You pull off the vocals very well - no need for a different singer unless you looking for something to play with. You've really got those double/harmony vocals down pat. Liked the "telephone" effect on the last verse. The gritty guitar has a nice tone...

If this sucks, then clearly it's too different of a style for me to notice!

Sounds pretty good. There might have been a few spots where the snare felt a little thin relative to the rest of the instrumentation, but those parts were far outweighed by the spots where it did fit.

Holy fuck, this is Lenny Kravitz

I mean for real I really get Lenny vibes from this, and I think it sounds spectacular.

This is one of the coolest tunes I`ve heard in some time.

The chorus kicks massive ass.

Dont know what you worry about on the vox, IMO this is my favorite vocal preformance of yours.

That line; Cut through the real lies. when you sing with some growl in your voice, sounds classic.

This one is defenitly up there with that 70`s song

I`m no expert in generees but you fit perfectly in this generee.

Simply amazing.

I can appreciate you not being able to hear whether or not it works, since you've combined parts from other tunes of yours--tunes that you were already more familiar with.

But believe me, this works! Great job.

Chili, Mad, Ray, Ido, Vomit, Nak, and Whitey,

I really appreciate the comments. I'm glad to know my ears aren't toally shit since other people heard that the snare might not be the perfect sound for this tune.

I'm surprised to get so many (or any) good comments on this song. Funny how some people can like a song you thought might be your worst. But I'm still not able to listen to it as a listener, so I can't judge it.

I know what you're saying, Ray. I guess I just wasn't able to stay away from rocking it up a bit. I think the song could do without that part, too. But I'm hoping it can be a good tune with it also. Time will tell, I guess.

Thumbs up

Great song, you know...

And some (small) bass frequencie issues I talked about on "world..." (obvious for the "new room thing") are gone, bass GTR, bass drum ...veeeeery good!

Thanx alot, CIRO. Actually, no, I didn't know. I really wasn't sure about this tune. I'm still not sure, but at least feel better about it based on the comments.

Cool! That's nice to know. I'm not sure how much the room has to do with it, since I record bass direct. But getting to know the room has to help when it comes time to mix. Thanx alot for the listen and the comments

Nice, Rami.

I'm not big on the lead guitar sound at the beginning. Your leads are getting better and better. I dig the bass/lead guitars matching licks - very cool.

I really like the verses - a lot. Really enjoying the guitars going into the choruses - and then it tightens up again. I don't think this is a particularly "soul" song, and I think your voice has great character.

This song would really benefit from an acoustic.

Great stuff, as always.

Thanx, man. I don't think it's a soul tune, either. But I really hear the singer from JACKSOUL singing the verses in this.

Good call. The clean guitar in the verses was an attempt to get as close to an acoustic sound as possible, but it's an electric.

Thanx alot for the help. I feel better about the tune, and have a better idea of what to change.
