Recording the snare and phase cancellation
Is anyone mic'ing their snares top and bottom to record...and if so, how do you deal with the phase cancellation. Is there an inexpensive solution? My budget has me using 6-7 SM57 knock offs for all of our recording purposes, so I was wondering if I could some how double mic the snare and not have the phase cancellation as part of the equation.

There are a few different ways:
1. Use a mic preamp or mixer with a phase reverse switch 2. Wire a mic cable so the polarity is reversed, mark it so you know not to use it on anything else 3. record it the way it is and flip it in the computer.

Just flip the two wires!?!? That's genius.

Make sure you switch the right two wires (there are three) and (obviously) only switch the wires on one end.

Another option is to buy a Hosa GXX-195 in line phase reverse adapter or similar. They're like $8.00 each.
