Drum overhead rig

This is my new overhead rig. I work in an acrylics shop and made the crossbar on our laser. Maybe I could sell a few

That's pretty cool. Looks like it's adjustable in to out and the angle of the mics. Also looks like some KSM 109's. That's what I use for OH's too.

What's the weight?

The acrylic piece is pretty light. The whole assembly is easily balanced by the counterweight. I got the studio boom at guitar center. They price matched one I found online.
Yep, those are ksm109's. I like them pretty well. I had to return one of the first ones I got because the connector went bad. I used some old rim mount mic clips I had and use the screw clamp to hold the cable in place.

That's a pretty damn cool idea! I think I might be interested in one.

Nice rig. I did a smaller version of an XY mic mount for the Karma micro mics:

Battery clamps, some copper wire. $8.

When do you use the x/y configuration? I've read about it, but not sure how to use it in the real world.

When you want 'real'. As in most coherent (read 'foucoused), least phase cross pollination. Where in a spaced pair you're sort of going for the position and/or making use of the diffuse image. Look up ORTIF. A little tight, a little phase in the upper octave. Sort of half between the two.

I never would have thought 'copper, but it does hold it's bend pretty well doesn't it.
Cool.

torque91 - very cool! If I was looking to buy one, I'd definitely want some holes closer to the center so I could do an x/y setup as well if I wanted to.

Steve Moser - very creative! Looks like the world's fanciest roach clip!

Aren't those K-Micro's omni?

Do omni's work in an X/Y config?

Oh! I didn't see rear vents, so I assumed they were the omni's like I have.
