MXL 960 with swapped out tube....

I bought a new tube for my mic as a birthday gift to myself and while this is not the greatest case of use, I used the 960 in front of me about 2 feet out, into a PreSonus Firepod running into iMovie and then cleaned up with a little bit of Stillwell Major Tom compression in Garage Band.

Tube was a Mesa Boogie 12AX7 that I was able to get my hands on for cheap.


mic sounds a lot better when I am up close to it, but it has a fairly deep bottom end now.

So is that tracked like we see it? Guitar and vox at the same time with just one track?

tracked like you see it, just done right there in front of my iSight camera on an iMac.

Nothing fancy, I got a number of clams in the playing, and some timing issues but it was just a fun little deal to play with the iSight mostly.

The mic was already on a stand, and I figured out that iMovie was using it as my input signal as default due to my audio configs in OS X so I just rolled with it.

Looks like the 960 is a gonner! MF, Music123 and GC all say it's discontinued.

Bummer.
