Unhappy

if i used 1track for guitar, 1track for bass, and 1 track for vocal, there is only one track for the drums?
I want to get the drums with 4 mics at least, 1 mic for bass drum, 1 for snare, and the 2left for the cymbals,
Can i use an mixer with the 4inputs and sent it trought 1 track on my four track?
What options do i have??

Thumbs up

Yup... that's pretty much what you have to do (use an external mixer for the drum mics...) Send the mixer's output to the 1 track (obviously, will be a mono mix...)

Depending on your 4 track you may not need the extra mixer. The 424 and most other Tascams allow you to assign all inputs to the same track while monitoring the other tracks for overdubbing. But if you are going for the simultaneous tracking, then you will need the extra mixer. We used to use a cheap Shure 4 X 1 mixer when my band had this problem.

Good Luck.

empty,

try posting this question to the "studio building and display" forum.

If its in your budget, by the way, you may want to get a dedicated microphone for your kick drum and one specialized for snares. They are pricey but can make a world of difference.

I don't know for a Portastudio 07, but my 424 has eight inputs (jack). If you plug for example four mics in it for your drums and you set the "record function" switch of track four to buss and all others to "safe" all your drum mics will get assigned to track four. Didn't your Portastudio come with a manual?
But, again, that's for the 424.

Good luck!

If you don't have the manual, maybe you can download it here:
http://www.tascam.com/products/manuals.php

If you have an older model it won't be there, but there might be a newer model with just about the same specs. (for example, I have a 424 mark II but I can also use the manual for the mark III).
Good luck again!
