Using my Digi 002rack w/ Tascam TRS-8 and M308 Mixer

Im considering using my old Digi002rack with my current analog setup.

I was thinking of tracking with the TSR-8 and then doing some minor editing in Pro Tools.

What is the easiest/best way to hook this all up?

Is the analog richness going to suffer when I import into the computer with the Digi002Rack? Will it sound digital?

Should i just scrap this idea and stick to just not having to edit anything and master to the Alesis Masterlink?

Thanks!

Talking

You will need a way to sync the TSR-8 & 002R if you want to transfer tracks between them, editing for example. Or if you want both machines to play togther in time.

A SMPTE / MTC code is recorded on track 8 with DBX noise reduction bypassed, popular units to achieve this are as follows.................

I've used the phillp rees with a Fostex E16 & PTLE 002R without any problems, only recently got a TSR-8 so not had the chance to use it much. However the principle is the & setup is the same whatever analog recorder you're using!

If you don't need to edit tracks sync is the way to go just edit the tracks you want to & leave the others on the TSR-8 for mixdown!

thanks trancendental.

actually i would like to just record the main tracks (drums, guitar, bass...) to the TSR-8 and then record those into the digi rack and then do everything else from there.

can i just run the line outs of the TSR-8 into the 8 line inputs of the digi rack? if i did that how would i adjust the levels?

I too would love to know how to do this? I have the exact same setup except I dont have the 002 rack i have the 002 factory (mixer) and a TSR-8. So I would love to know if it works and how well it works...

You can bypass the mixer & plug the outputs of the TSR-8 straight in to the 002R but the levels might not be exact, the 1st 4 channels with the mic pres (switch the line pots on) have gain pots & you can adjust levels to suit, the other 4 have a switch on the back for -10db or +4db so use -10db

The OO2 (R) inputs / outputs run at +4db & the Fostex E-16 is around -10db the Tascam TSR-8 is probably around the same level?

thanks thats the info i needed.

when i try to set the input for a track, inputs 5, 6, and 7 arent showing up on my drop down list of choices of input.

i only get mic/line 1, 2, 3, and 4 and 'Analog 8' to come up.

any suggestions on what i can be doing wrong?

thanks

Are you sure that the cables are in the right sockets as there are a few other sockets on the back for monitors ect? 5-6-7 should be beside 8.

If that's not the problem try reset the settings paths in the software?
