Tascam M-2516.......what am I doing wrong?

I just acquired a Tascam M-2516 mixer and am in the process of learning how to use some of the features on it. This thing is a bit of overkill for what I'm doing now, but I have plans for other things where this will come in handy. Besides, it was a hell of a deal and I couldn't pass it up!

Anywho, to the problem. I've read the manual (big thanks to EVM!) and have tried to decipher the exact process of using effects using the effects send/return. I learned how to do it on my little 424mkII, so I know the "theory" of how things are supposed to be connected.

I have run a guitar directly into channel 1, had one of the aux outputs running into my chorus pedal, both outs on the pedal running into the stereo effects input of effects 1. I have tried adjusting and futzing around with the levels for the aux send and effects returns, among other things, trying to get the "wet" signal to come in. I could run the outs of the pedal into another channel, but that would be too easy. I'd like to know how to do it the hard way first.

Any suggestions? I know it's going to be something simple and stupid that I have overlooked.

just for shitz and grinz try another known source into those returns to make sure they're good... start with the obvious...

The other issue is that your pedal is an insert type effect. You may want to use the channel inert instead, though I'm not sure how that would work if it is a stereo return. Gain might be an issue too. Your pedal may only receive a hi-Z instrument input which you are not getting off of an aux send output.

hmmmm.........good points guys. Thanks for the input. I'll fire it all up and experiment some more after I get some grub and get settle in for the evening. I'll keep you posted.

Just an update for the guys who responded. I am a dumbass! I have a friend who has been trying to help me with this from time to time and I finally stumbled upon the solution by accident. I hadn't turned the knob for the appropriate aux to "post" on the channel I was using. Doh! Too many buttons, switches, knobs, etc.

I think patching guitar pedal's through the aux send and receive might need some impedance matching. For example, an impedance matching plug or a reamping device for aux send and a DI box for aux receive.
