studio pics (cleaned up!!)

I cleaned up my basement studio (one room 12 by 14) and figured I would take some pics and post them.

I built the room initially for a small office for my biz, but moved everything after I got into this home recording thing.

I hope you enjoy..

Didn't know why this was in the TASCAM forum until I saw the last few pics. Now I know why! My only TASCAM is an 1804 Firewire interface, which may not qualify me for this forum--but I love looking at others playspaces! Nice setup you have there. Looks like a great place to make music.

Right On!

Super Cool! Do you record most of your stuff on the 424 mkIII and mix down to 2 tracks on the Teac?

Thanks Aaron

Right now Im really experimenting with different routes. I just scored the 2 track a few days ago. What I have been doing is tracking with either and/or the 424 and the Korg d-888 and mixing down to the Masterlink. I was normally mixing with the Yamaha MG 16, but I just started using that and the M-35 (Tascam) together. The M-35 is the bomb with drums. The eqs are substantially superior to the yamaha board, although the yamaha board is quite acceptable.

Got bummed out because the new teac 2 track stated smoking a bit. Shut it down and popped it open and one of the caps is fried. Really surprised me because the girl who owned this is a friend of mine and really takes care of her audio gear and knows her stuff, (phone company troubleshooter tech).

It was sitting for a very long time. So I have to pop in the cap I just picked up and pray that I might get lucky and the problem is confined to just that.

I REALLY want to mix down to the Teac.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it.

D-888 in pic

Yea,

The D-888 is to the left of the 424. I really like it Dave, because of the 8 outs on it. I mix out of the box using the 8 outs and its super convenient. Just some short patch cords and bada boom....bada bang. Really fun. Its fun to track with the 424 and dump em on the D-888. I scored the D-888 from my local GC and its really a great tool. Extremely simple to operate and I used to really be downright afraid of menus. Some people complain about the gains but I have no prob with them.

The guitar next to the short scale Gretsch bass is a Gibson Les Paul Model. Cool axe, Ive had it for years. Checked out a Gretsch Electromatic pro jet with Bigsby wammy bar at GC and really liked it as its semi hollow body and has a great feel to it.

Dont know why I like Gretsch so much, prob because of my drums which were great bang for the buck. If I had to truly be honest, its the logo. The Gretsch logo has always killed me for some reason. I just love the damn logo.

If they made a Gretsch bicycle, I would probably get one.

Thanks a lot, Im really glad I put the pics on the board. I really dig checking out peoples studios for ideas .

Im going to have to check out your new Lennon stuff today when I got my chores all done.

Arrow Clevo...

Yeah, that's cool about the D888. I got the 388, 688, 38, all that 8-track/8-simul stuff and it's good to have the capability.

I caught on the bass L was a Gretch, maybe a Jet King II (jr), but also discerned the guit R was not an Ibanez, after scrutinizing the pic, (below).

I have the GAX-B50 bass and the GAX-70 guitar. It's a cool looking guitar, but I find that body style a little top heavy. Gotta have a strap that's less prone to slipping, like leather.

Pulled this pic off earlier, but your GRETCH reminded me of this Ibanez GAX70: (my mistake, it's easy to tell they're different)

Arrow Ps:...

PS: the M-35 mixer is the stealth bomb, isn't it? $90 is obscenely low for what you get! I call it a 'sleeper' deal. Stuff like that I only miss if the bid closes when I'm asleep! The fact that not as many people have heard of the M-35 makes it a sleeper deal, too. People are less aware of that model, and I believe there were less sold overall.

The EQ is a trip, and signal routing is good. Those old Tascam boards sound great, [IMO/YMMV].
