No problems, I have been pleasantly surprised as to how good this little digital recorder is. In playing around with it I found that the recordings were very quiet when I tracked btn -24 and -18 area just where terry manning had suggested for best digital recording zone.

Yes, I've had mine for about 6 months. I'm just a songwriter/hobbyist, but have really enjoyed recording songs with this unit and it is great for learning the "tweeking" techniques to make the sound better.

I just ordered one a couple of days ago, waiting on it to come in the mail..

I'm going to try to get away from computer recording and go into more hardware style recording... I also ordered a Presonus pre-amp and compressor. ZZounds didn't send the preamp, so I have to get credited for it and re-order it I guess..

I've been using an Alesis Multimix8 USB mixer with an Audio Tecnica AT2020 mic. I've been using the pre-amp that comes built into the mixer. The sound quality is ok, but it just sounds like the vocals are "Out there".. Hopefully the new equipment will help out.

I have my kybds going into a submixer then to a Speakeasy Classic Tube Stereo rack version preamp, I quite like this pre as they are custom made with a 50's Fender tweed front end and Leslie back end. I have just been having trouble finding a 1 gig card locally.

Do you have a Wal-Mart close by?.. I just got my Boss BR600 last night after a day of fishing. (Wish I would have stayed at home.. lol)

I was thinking about going to walmart to buy a 1 gig card for it, although it's not really necessary right now, it might come in handy later.

Also, does anyone know what kind of power cable to use with this?.. It states to only use a Roland PSA adapter, but I dont know where to get one, and I'm guessing I could get the same thing for 1/2 price at Best Buy or WalMart if I knew what to get.



Anyways, so far, this thing is amazing. This beats the heck out of my old Alesis Multimix. I'm still waiting on my preamp, zzounds sent me one with next day shipping, so when I get it, I can try out some vocals on it. The built in mics sound pretty good, and my PG58 sounds pretty good, I'm just wanting to hook my AT2020 up and check the quality of it. Especially running though a Tube amp and compressor. Hopefully I'll be recording some vocals in the next hour or so... My goodness.. it's like Christmas for me.. lol

I recently got a BR-600 to use as a portable remote recorder. Importing stereo mixes from a PC is a breeze, and then I can go somewhere else to record cranked up guitar tracks or vocals. Then it's a breeze to export the freshly recorded tracks back to the PC.

Also picked up a Mackie 802vlz3 to go along with it. It provides the right kind of I/O to record and monitor, plus has phantom power for condensor mics.
I was a little concerned that the BR-600 records at 16bits (I do 24bits on the pc) but have been pleasantly surprised at how good the recordings are.

It's been liberating!

this compares the old 0 db vu to the new digial db for recording purposes - terry Manning had posted this on another forum to help explain why when laying down tracks on a digital recording unit that -24 to -18 get the best results.

I got mine 'barely used' with a Tascam 15 watt 12 volt adapter, works fine with it.

Alright.. Thanks dude. I'm gonna go to the local music store and see if they have anything that might work.. If not, I will check out one of those adapters with the changable tips.. Hopefully somethin like that will work..

As long as the DC output and the polarity of the tip match you'll be fine. The PSA-120's output is 9V 200mA (milliamps) and the center of the tip is negative.

Alright.. now I got my Presonus TubePre, the compressor, the BR-600, and my AT2020 hooked up. And wow.. this beats the heck out of my old setup. The sound quality is amazing. I am promising myself now, I will never go back to computer recording.. I'm very happy with the results..

Wow.. its so sensitive.. there is a train off in the distance, and my microphone is picking it up.. I cant even hear it by ear.. lol.. That is awesome..

A little too awesome though.. lol.. I need a soundproof room.. Its picking up all the cars going down the road and everything.. Hmmmm.. lol Thats going to get annoying while trying to record..

That's the AT2020 in play. Consider a less-sensitive mic, or one with a unidirectional pickup pattern if you can't isolate the mic from external noise. I have to unplug my fishtank when I record - same problem!

Yeah.. I am also using a PG58 for backup vocals.. It doesn't pick up all the background noises, but the quality isn't anywhere near as good. Maybe I should pick up a SM57? From what i've read, its "The microphone every studio should have"..

Bought a br 900 just after christmas. Just getting to grips with it and producing demos for acoustic guitar and vocals. My verdict would be good machine, crap manual

Just noticed you guys using mic pre amps. My dealer (music not drugs) says that the BR900 (and presume the other boss machines) dont need pre amps but I find that I do (otherwise need the gain on max). Anyone tried without pre amps and what results do you get ?

You need a preamp for the BR600 if you have a condenser mic that needs phantom power. The BR900 has phantom power available.

just got my br-600 yesterday and am going nutz today trying to figure the thing out. The manual is ok but there are a few things i need some help with. Can you record the drum tracks and your mic1 at same time or do you have to record each seperately? Any advice you more experienced users have would be terrific!! Thanks y'all! -Dan-
