Need some help

[NL5]

Hey - I am working with a rap artist that needs to find some backing tracks. What I need is either individual tracks for all the parts, or the fruity loops session. I don't want just the stereo track. Where would be some good places to start looking? Or, does anyone on here sell beats in that form? Budget is pretty small, so cost is a consideration.

edit - and he wants a variety of sounds, they don't need to sound anything like the sample.

Completely new. We are doing a whole album - half the tracks have music, half don't.

He does sound like Em... to me that isn't a good thing... 1 cause he will always be compared to EM and looked at as a copycat or gimmick..

BTW I haven't forgot. I'm hoping that I can sit down and get something recorded tomorrow. Even though he sounds a lot like Em, I can still work with it when making a beat.

Also, I am still looking for places that sell beats that are in fruity loops sessions, or individual tracks. I can fing places selling stereo tracks for cheap, but I want more production control.

I don't use fruity loops... but thats how I sell beats. You will probably need to get an exclusive license for the beat to get these files... Most cats trust me and don't take me up on it, plus most of my clients record the song in my studio anyway so the multitracks arent necessary, but I offer them the option to get these files.

I only sell exclusives so maybe somebody who does leases will have a different opinion, but in my case I don't have a problem giving up the source files because once you buy it, its yours... I don't plan on trying to sell it again. I would NOT be giving out my sources if it wasn't exclusive and people selling licenses over and over again for $25 arent going to want to do this...

When my clients are buying beats from other producers I always tell them; make it known that you want an exclusive upfront, get it in writing, and get the beat either tracked into 6-7 synced stereo wave files OR get the fruity or reason file or whatever with the sequences and samples in it... the tracks would probably be more useful for you in your situation, but I feel like having the file(s) will be pretty good proof of ownership...

but if somebody gives you the impression that its an exclusive license and then balks when you ask for tracks or sources, be wary...

I normally offer to include the session tracked out but only when people buy exclusive or custom. Most people who sell beats are gonna do it like that. Some won't buy beats without that option, some will, you just never know. But I do agree with more productive control.

I use Reason while some use FL. If you have it, then you might be able to use the Reason file (but it usually has to have all the sounds with it). If you use FL it does nada for you.

Oh btw, when I get you this beat just be sure to spread word.
