My First Vocal Recording...Please can I get some Feedback??

ok guys..so i just purchased my equipment as posted earlier on this forum

so i sat for 10 hrs yesterday trying to mix my first vocals..i'm using Reaper and the instrumentals i rapped over were mp3. here are the steps i followed
1- trippled the vocal tracks
2- panned 1 track to the left and 1 to the right (about 20% each) and the 3rd one i left unpanned
3- to the unpanned track i added delay and reverb effects. i just played around with it for a while to see that it sounded good in my ears

so at the end of it..when i hear the vocals and they sound sort of ok (atleast to my ears) but when i listen to it with the instrumental, it doesnt have that studio sound to it. it sounds like i just recorded on a pc and straight exported to mp3...please try to take a listen to the outputs below.....i will appreciate any advice to get that sound i am looking for...and ultimately improve my skills...also if u dont mind...is this a fair or terrible mix for a first timer???

welcome to the HR.com Fam...

the main reason why it sounds like you recorded over the beat..is because you did.. you have to realize the instrumental is already mastered ..and you used a mp3.. it a few thing you can do to try and make it sound like you didnt record over the beat... either lower your vocal mix volume down or add some sutle reverb (not noticable) to the the vocal mix to give it the feel that is sitting in the mix..

you can do a search on here..I think we talked about get your vocals sitting in the mix better on a two track beat..

Bring the instrumental up a bit. and mediumize the vocals, if that makes sense.

lets say that your beat is at 60% volume, make the vocals at 35% to 40% volume, to feel as if it's sittin' in the instrumental.

Also, bring up the chorus a bit, it kinda hides.

It's almost as if there isn't enough going on in the beat, and that makes the vocals seem empty, also.

Not bad for a first timer, welcome to the fam.
