i need to use the tascam tm-d1000 to connect to the vs-840 cause i need the extra inputs and i want to more or less use the vs-840 as a recorder so if anyone knows how please respond.

You may not like my answer...

But, based on my sketchy knowledge of the TM D 1000, I'd suggest taking the four group/ aux outs from the mixer and plugging those into the four channel ins on the 840. Then I'd take the main left, main right, aux A, and aux B outs from the 840, and plug each of them into a different line in on the mixer.

The problem is you'll either be limited to using the 840 as a four track recorder, or you'll have to submix on the 840, and send a submix to one or two channels on the mixer.
