Tascam 488 question

I have an original Tascam 488 and have a few questions...(Got it a while ago, I've not messed with it too much and am now getting back to it)
How would I use more than the first 2 channels to mic a drum kit (4 mics or more)? I really don't plug in anything else (examples: keyboards, drum machines) other than mics and guitars direct. How would I utilize the rest of the inputs (using mics) if they don't have trim knobs?.. Or can I?
Thanks guys,

A.A.

Arrow ...

You'll need a set of preamps or a mixer to use, such as the M-35 or any other larger mixer with preamp-out patch points, or use the mixer's entire channel strip and submix on the mixer to 4-buss, then patch the 4-buss outs to the 488's line ins.

See, it's easy!
