Technics PR110 good for midi?

I have just bought an older Technics PR110 I am trying to get to work with Vista/Reason4.I have to stick with Vista as new computer has driver issues if Itried to install XP. Bought a "generic" cheap and cheerful Chinese self installing midi interface..no joy. Plan B is to buy an older EDIROL UM-1SX USB-MIDI interface, because I can get one quickly out here and there are drivers available on the net for Vista. am 99% confident it is a midi interface issue, not a keyboard issue as everything on keyboard works perfectly.I only want to use Reason internal sounds, so am just using keyboard to trigger it. Has anyone ever had problems with Technics handling this? The saying "buy cheaply..buy twice" has often come home to bite me!!
