I have used a 1010 for years and that's what I have been able to compare to. There is no comparison, the n12 is in a different league. The A/D is one thing....but the D/A is clearly more detailed than a 1010. You will find others that have higher end gear and they love the n12. It's simple little easy to use Morph compressor works great, it has really surprised me. The preamps are sweet, but don't just take my word for it...read through the gearslutz thread. For the most part I no longer mix ITB and use the n12 to mix. The rerverb is better than any plug I have (But I don't have UAD or some plugs like that) and tough it's only a 3 band EQ it will surprise you just how good it is. The n Series uses a new "AI" driver but if you want to hook up two n12's use the mLAN driver. I know mLAN has sort of a reputation but the AI driver is rock solid. It's a VERY lengthy thread but I recommend reading through this because you will find quite a few n12 users and there's a few of em who do major label work (couple mastering engineers) who think very highly of them, so it's not just the opinions of us little guys at home. Check out the thread but feel free to ask me any questions. http://www.gearslutz.com/board/so-mu...-n-series.html Let me point out too. As you read through that thread you'll find some people having problems. Most "problems" were user caused, not installing the right driver things like that. I; am not aware of anyone having an outstanding problem with an n series mixer. Yamaha has done a great job on the driver. When I bought mine I was ready to trade it for an RME FF800 if the driver's sucked. I've had mine for about 4 months and not one problem. Oh, forgot to say that I upgrade the Cubase AI it came with to Cubase Studio 4. I'm new to Cubase but I'm really starting to like the workflow in it. And the Media bay with that loop browser, whoa! I use a lot of drum loops and the features in this thing were worth the price of admission, it rocks!
