59 gibson invader amp-came out nice!
i posted a while back looking for a referral site for some grill fabric. got a response and the amp came out nice. Someone painted over the tweed(ugh!) somewhere along the line so I stripped the amp and sanded it down and stained and polyed it. will post pic soon...really cool look where the top dovetails with the sides.
Anyway, i had it worked on a few years ago, new caps, etc. and it sounds killer, but lately i notice a pretty nasty hum when its idling. Someone had cut the power cord to the chassis, and wired up a lamp cord to it. Its got a polarity switch and it helps a bit. Would you think that a cut cord married up with a lamp chord would cause this to hum? Im thinking of getting a new chord and soldering it at the chassis like it should have been done. I want to figure it out because its the first amp Ive ever refurbed and I really like the way it came out. thanks, clevodrummer |
