Christmas Song--"I Believe in You" --comments welcome

I Believe in You
©2006 J. Blessing

In a tiny little house on the outskirts of town
A precious little child laid her Christmas wishes down
For a great big man with a great big heart
For whom spreading Christmas cheer plays a great big part

She said, Santa last year I looked hard for your sleigh
But you didn’t make it here at all by Christmas day
Mom says you had trouble finding our neighborhood
I hope you make it this year; I’ve tried to be good.

And Santa, I believe in you
You’re real, I know it’s true
Let others say what they may
My faith won’t go away
Santa, I believe in you.

In his home in the North Pole, kneeling at his bed
A great big man bowed his white-haired head
Saying his prayers for this great big world
Praying for every little boy and every little girl

He said, Lord each year I try as hard as I can
To bring joy to everyone but I’m only a man
I pray you’ll give them joy no matter what’s under their tree
And help them remember Christmas is not about me

And Jesus, I believe in you
You’re real, I know it’s true
Let others say what they may
My faith won’t go away
Jesus, I believe in you

In a tiny little stable two-thousand years ago
A little baby came along because God loves us so,
This tiny little child was to become a great Man
Who would sacrifice His life so we can come Home again.

God said, I sent my only Son for to show you the Way
To make it back to me because you started to stray
He said what He said and did what He did
For every great big man and tiny little kid.

Because I believe in you
You’re mine, I know it’s true
Let others say what they may
You know I won’t go away
My child, I believe in you.

The tempo is different for the verses and the chorus; the verses are in 4/4 and the choruses work well in 3/4. Also, it's meant to be sung in a quick tempo.

It's a great story that ties all three facets of Christmas into one song (Kids/Santa/Jesus). I'm not sure how you play 4/4 then 3/4 so I'll wait to hear the recording.

This is really good. As ido1957 indicates it does a wonderful job of showing how the commercial aspects of Christmas tie in with the religious aspects.

I offer my most sincere compliment.....I wish I wrote this!!!!

For what it's worth - the song that I've made the most money off (and expect to continue to see money coming in year after year) - was a Christmas themed song I co-wrote. It's appeared in 3 or 4 movies that re-cycle on various cable channels every December (and no doubt will end up in additional movies in the years to come). When the co-writer brought the basic idea to me I actually thought it was a lame idea and only helped write it to be nice.......just goes to show, you never know which song or which project may pay off!!!!!

Thank so much for the high praise! I just got to thinking one day how there was a circle of belief...as children we believe in Santa who is based on an actual person who was a bishop (if I remember correctly). Being a member of the clergy, he believed in Jesus, who died for us because God believes in us.

This is one of the first Christmas-themed songs I've written; so far there's been a total of 3 that I've been involved with. None have gotten much further than my writing them, tho.
