Beater Doghouse, Still Kickin'! $500...

3/4 scale upright bass, well-used but still kicking! It's received some repair work, including a new Maple bridge and steel tailpiece. There is significant finish wear around the edge of the body, the peg is askew, and the repair work involved has included a pin at the headstock. Nonetheless I've been playing it, and it sounds nice and plays well- none of the issues represent a compromise in the instrument's integrity, and it's holding up well. A good bill of health has been given for it by Robert Portukalian of the Providence (RI) Violin shop.

This'd make a fine starter bass for a student, or a handy gigging-axe for that Tuesday night coffee-shop thing. Price is firm at $500 (a bargain if you've shopped around); it comes with a Mouradian gig-bag, a well-used bow and rosin, and a copy of the Simandl Method, Book 1. And I'll toss in a burned copy of "Mingus at Antibbe", featuring Eric Dolphy on bass clarinet...!
