WANTED: Tube for my MXL 960

I have never done tube replacements on any gear yet, but I can tell I should upgrade the one on my mic. Anybody got a tube to sell/trade?

I got no idea what to use either Makes me feel like an idiot but I am lost.

Man, tubes are really cheap...

I *think* the 960 uses a 12AT7...

according to Musician's Friend, it SAYS the 960 uses a 12AT7.

according to the tube i pulled out of my 960, it's a 12AX7.

i've used a Mullard CV4024 (12AT7) in mine, but honestly, i prefer a NOS 1950's RCA blackplate 12AX7.

you can find tubes on ebay, which is, quite frankly, a crapshoot. i've gotten some good tubes and i've gotten some really questionable ones.

OR you can go to www.kcanostubes.com and get some tubes from Mike and rest assured that they're great.

that said, New Old Stock tubes aren't cheap.....but they'll turn that mic in to a killer.

cheers,
wade

What about this tube? I need a place that takes PayPal since I have no credit card (having one of those would likely get me killed)

You would be getting pot luck with that. I think that you would be better off with this one. http://thetubestore.com/mul12atcv.html
or this one. http://thetubestore.com/12at7.html
