Here's a new song I just wrote, just a quick live take to get it recorded. I'll redo the recording later to add a few more instruments/fills.

ido1957 - I have listened to your stuff off and on for the last couple of years. In my opinion this is your best songwriting effort yet. Most minor key tunes are slow and not up-tempo like this one. Once you add your classic riffs to this baby it is gonna sound great. The key fits your voice well and the lyrics are sung like they are straight from your heart. Very nice indeed. +10s

Thanks Dave, appreciate the kinds words.... Still lots of work to this but I was anxious to get it recorded while it was still fresh. I need to review the exit from the break, not sure that chord's working. Glad you like it...

Because it is a quick demo I won't comment on the production.

The song surprised me, because when I read the lyrics I wasn't sure what to expect. Lyrically the song doesn't excite me, because there are many stock phrases in there. The basic theme of "you don't know what you're missing" is not unusual, and when dipping into these waters, you really do need something very special to make it stand out from the others.

However, the song flows along smoothly, and the lyrical content fits pretty well with this flow. Perversely, though, whereas I just listened to a song where sparseness of lyrics created holes, I got the impression of almost too many syllables.

The chord progression reminds me of the structures that Santana uses, and I can hear a funk-latin arrangement happening, with lots of energy and space.

Thanks Gecko - Thanks for the listen and the good comments...I'm always trying to improve my lyric writing skills.... The mix is rough at best - just a cassette recording for now. I'm just starting to work on recording this over again on my better equipment....

Gerry - I believe that when I click the link I am getting the old version? (Which I still like!) All I hear is drums, bass, vox, and rhythm guitar. Perhaps it is early and I am doing something wrong???

You are getting the right version - it's still not finished. I re-recorded drums, bass, vox, and rhythm guitar and added some effects. I think the vocals came out a little better this version I still have to add a second rhythm, lead and harmonies... I better get started....

I was just looking forward to your guitar riffs. The chorus sticks in my head for hours. (That's a very good thing.) I really like this tune and stand by my original evaluation that it is one of your best.
