Question Rack mounting question

Perhaps a silly question but does anyone know if the screws which come with the rack mount ears for the TASCAM recorders (in my case the TASCAM 48) and also ones which attach to a standard 19" rack (in my case the TASCAM CS-607B), are available off the shelf, at any good hardware store? The ones I have (for the rack ears) have stripped heads and I don't have any for the actual mounting to the rack. Thanks!

i am not sure if you are asking about some special screws.
the standard rack screws are available, of course
mf link: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...ers?sku=541915
there are other 'brands' and places to buy them of course

also, from my experience some "standard" screws fit nicely and some are nearly impossible to screw in

The thread is 10-32 and you should be able to find them in any hardware store. I just ordered a box of 3/8" long, socket head, black oxide steel ones from McMaster-Carr (it was like $7.95 for 50 IIRC) along with matching black nylon washers. They look sharp and work great

Yeah the rack screws are available at hardware stores. They are american standard threads and I believe 10 - 32 is correct. If you buy any replacement screws for the 48 itself, like the bottom cover, those are metric threads.

If you take one of the old screws down to the hardware store it should be fairly easy to match up. Also if you buy the right size screw and it is still difficult or impossible to screw in as Dr. Zee suggested, you need to buy a tap and re-thread the hole. It will be a bit more money, but the operation of re-threading with a tap is very easy.
