I'm currently ditching my old Yamaha SW1000 card. It's sounding a little dated, and doesn't work properly since I installed it on an old machine. Unfortunate, because I like the analogue drumkits on it, and some of the bass sounds have become regular features on my work. Time to move on though, as it's unreliable.
I have a Roland XV5050 module (with orch and ethnic cards), and would like another module to give me more polyphony and a different flavour of sound (The Yamaha card complemented it nicely). I need something with some good electronic drumkits (808, 909 style), probably some good current dance bass and pad sounds. Looking for user recommendations! Thanks.

Cool. I looked at the Micro X and it seems to have some nice sounds. I picked up the Motif a couple of days ago and will be plumbing it in this weekend.
The Korg Radias sounds good too - so I may look into that or the Micro X for my next purchase. The Motif is to replace my Yamaha SW1000 card.

I would has suggested the Motif - I find that Roland and Yamaha sounds often seem to compliment each other. I've never been a big fan of Korg - and I have not listened to a Micro X (I have not been in the market for sound modules in a while) - but now I'll have to give the Korg a listen.

I have a Motif 8 (classic) and a Roland XV-3080 combo. My vote goes to the Motif ES module...
Had a Triton classic for about a year, and found it to be too much of a "press one key and be amazed" type of synth. Can't say the same for the newer Korg stuff, just me experience with the Triton. Now, the M1 I had, that was a different story. Loved that thing! |

Cool. I've got a friend who's just got the Waldorf Blofeld, and he's raving about how great it is. Might check that out too...
