Anyone compared a Joemeek OneQ and an ART Pro Channel?

Hey guys, it's been a while, but I'm currently again looking for (home)studio stuff, as my guitar-rig is pretty much complete (still looking for new guitars now and then though... 11 and counting...)

anyway, in all the time I still haven't bought a Channelstrip yet, and I stumbled upon these.

I can get the OneQ for 499 euro's, and the Pro Channel for about 300 euro's (both new). Can both do 'clean' and colored?

I already own 2 M-Audio DMP-3's, so I have some 'clean juice' on 4 channels.
I will use a channelstrip for vocals, guitar, bass, maybe snare or kick. I'd like something with a bit of character.

Others I'v considered/'m considering are the
Mindprint EnVoice MKII
TL Audio Ivory 2 VP5051
Drawmer MX60
SPL Trak One (and even the Channel One...)

no longer looking for the M-Audio Tampa or Focusrite Voicemaster Pro.

Oh, and the Art Voice Channel... I just found out about its existence. Is that any good and/or better than the Pro Channel?

Pricewise maybe more comparable with the Meek OneQ...

Maybe a little pricey compared to what you have mentioned but maybe it's worth it to you.

The Art Pro channel strip has a lot of character and some very nice coloration. Haven't used the One Q, but do like the SixQ, but not as much as the Art, which I find to be warmer and more interesting. The compressor section is also sweet and the EQs are musical. Don't much care for the Meek compressor sound at all, except for some occassional guitars.

Rode NT5 or SP C4?
MXL V69 or Rode NTK?
Soundcraft Ghost or A&H GS3000? (a mure luxurious question...)

Looks quite well-equipped...

I'll second the Pro Channel. It's well worth $300.

The Pro Channel has more gain than the voice channel which may come in handy if you use a large diaphragm condenser or ribbon mic.

Studio Projects are going to be releasing a new preamp which might be worth waiting called "Envy". Apparently it is going to be in a different league to the DMP3 and VTB1 using much better components etc!?

I'm running a DMP3 and Tampa setup and am very pleased with the results.

I noticed there is a group buy for a Neve clone preamp on here but haven't a clue as to how good it is going to be. Might be worth invertigating?

I think the pres in the price range you're looking at are going to perform roughly the same. None of them are a magic bullet. Then again, most pres are competent to do the job, and you're going to get more bang for your buck with mics, instruments, and room treatment.

Any of the pres you mention will do a competent job boosting a mic signal.
