issues with OSX MIDI over LAN.

Has anyone else had issues with the MIDI over LAN in OSX? I tried to sync up a video show to my live tracks between two computers via MIDI over LAN, an ethernet cord between the computers...running Logic to send the midi messages and Modul8 to receive and subsequently select the appropriate clip for the song. I was able to get both computers to connect to each other but Modul8 wouldn't see the midi messages. Every tutorial I've seen on the net just shows you setting it up and then bam, works as if it was connect via midi. I would do midi, it's just hard to find midi cables that can go that far as you need for stage (the video compuer is normally in the sound booth, and the other is on stage.
