19" (1U) rack boxes for projects

I'm trying to source blank enclosures for rack component projects; anyone know of any manufacturers? Dimensions (approx): 19" x 1U x 3 or 4" deep.

try ebay for cheaper ones but Hammond Manufacturing and Bud Enclosures are two mainstream ones and are available from electronics supply places like Digikey or Mouser. Unfortunately, they are always pretty expensive.

If you want superb quality, I would check out Front Panel Express, they offer design software and do all the CNC work to make pro custom front panels (and enclosures also)

The vast majority of US DIYers I know use par-metal for cases.

Check out Mid-Atlantic stuff too, they have a really cheap steel box, 6" deep, if you just need to bang out something quick & dirty. Parts Express carries them.
